How to Connect Your PrestaShop Store to Build the Drop
Connect your PrestaShop shop to Build the Drop: install the module, enter your shop URL and approve the connection in your back office. No API keys needed.
- 1
Check the requirements
You need a PrestaShop 1.7, 8 or 9 shop served over HTTPS, and a back office employee account that can install and configure modules. You don't have to enable the Webservice or create an API key yourself: the Build The Drop module does it for you when you approve the connection.
- 2
Install the Build The Drop module
First, download the module (buildthedrop.zip). In your PrestaShop back office, go to Modules → Module Manager and click 'Upload a module'. Drop the Build The Drop module .zip file and wait until PrestaShop confirms it is installed. You will now see Build The Drop in your list of installed modules.
- 3
Open Stores → PrestaShop
In the Build the Drop dashboard, open Stores from the sidebar and choose PrestaShop. You will see the requirements and a field for your shop URL.
- 4
Enter your shop URL
Type the public address of your shop starting with https:// (for example https://mystore.com) and click 'Connect PrestaShop'. Use your storefront address, not your back office link: PrestaShop keeps the back office folder name secret, and Build the Drop doesn't need it. If your shop lives in a subfolder (https://mysite.com/shop), include it.
- 5
Approve the connection in your back office
You are taken to your shop, which records the request. Then, in the same browser, log in to your back office and go to Modules → Build The Drop → Configure, where the pending request is waiting. Approve it: the module enables the PrestaShop Webservice, creates a key limited to what Build the Drop needs and sends you back to the dashboard. Do it within 15 minutes and in the same browser, because the request is tied to it.
- 6
Confirm the store is connected
Back in the dashboard, your PrestaShop store shows the 'Connected' badge. In the back office, Advanced Parameters → Webservice now lists the key created for Build the Drop. Don't delete it, don't turn off the Webservice and don't uninstall the module: they are what keeps products and orders in sync. Uninstalling the module disconnects the store and deletes the key.
- 7
Import your first product
Search for a product from AliExpress, review it and import it. It is created in PrestaShop already active, as a standard product or with combinations, with its images, features and tags and your price rule applied. Open it in Catalog → Products to check it. Products go into the 'Home' category, so move them to your own categories if you use them, and leave the 'Supplier reference' field as it is: Build the Drop uses it to recognise the product.
- 8
If the connection fails
If you cancelled, took more than 15 minutes or approved from another browser, just click 'Connect PrestaShop' again. Check that the shop loads over HTTPS without certificate errors and that the module is installed and enabled. If your plan already has a store connected (Free and Starter allow one store per space: Shopify, WooCommerce or PrestaShop), disconnect it first or upgrade: Pro allows up to 5 stores per space and Business is unlimited.
